11 am
letters from a demilitarized zone
Meeting point:
Freiburg main station,
escalator, platform 1
During an excursion to the Barbara Adit near Oberried, the trail leads in several stages through a demilitarised zone. This zone is protected by the Hague Conventions, which are intended to preserve the cultural assets stored in the gallery in the event of armed conflict.
Along the way, passages from the correspondence between Günther Anders and Claude Eatherly will be read. This is complemented by locally researched historical audio material from the Cold War era.
The focus is on questions of guilt and responsibility in the age of new (weapons) technologies as well as ideas of security, protection, distance and borders. By telling local stories, a connection is created between the abstract global threat of nuclear weapons and the concrete, familiar local world.
Isabel Motz's performative walk explores how listening and reading changes the perception of a landscape otherwise characterised by tourism.
Speakers during the reading: Jule Köpke, Søren Marz, Antonios Chrisofakis
Registration by 13 June by e-mail to info@isabelmotz.com
The reading will be held in German.
English versions of some of the texts can be provided, please indicate this when registering by e-mail.
