Locations
In its third edition, the Biennale für Freiburg once again brings contemporary art to a wide variety of locations, from institutions to project spaces to off-spaces.
The program includes the Kunstverein Freiburg and the Museum für Neue Kunst, as well as art and cultural spaces such as DELPHI_space, the Pförtnerhaus, and the Kaiserwache.
While some of these locations have already been featured in previous editions of the Biennale, new venues have been added to this year's program: the Schopf2 and the Kulturaggregat. Together with the venues in public space, the Biennale für Freiburg 3 is proud to present a multifaceted exhibition parkour.
DELPHI_SPACE
DELPHI_space has been a central location for contemporary art and culture in Freiburg since 2019. As an interdisciplinary platform, the non-profit organization presents exhibitions and events in the fields of visual arts, dance, architecture, film, philosophy, and literature. The aim is to promote cultural participation and create an open space for artistic dialogue. The focus is on interdisciplinarity, artistic exploration of historical and contemporary issues, and dialogue between regional, national, and international players.
After several relocations, DELPHI_space has found its permanent home in the Bromberghof of Freiburg's Wiehre district.
Brombergstr. 17C

Kaiserwache
The Kaiserwache, once a public toilet, has been used as an off-space since May 2022. The BfF will once again be using this special location for its third edition. In doing so, it picks up on questions that are always near at hand to the curatorial team at the Kaiserwache: the specificity of the location. This former toilet is not only an architectural relic, but also a place where social power structures manifest themselves.

KULTURAGGREGAT
Kulturaggregat is a non-profit, socio-cultural organization that has been bringing art, (sub)culture, and social discourse into public spaces since 2014. As a collective of around 20 artists and cultural practitioners, it creates spaces for creativity and networking.
Since 2016, Kulturaggregat has been running hilda5, which is a platform, an art space, and a laboratory. The 500m2 art nouveau building at Hildastrasse 5 offers space for exhibitions, concerts, readings, workshops, and performances. It has also facilitated street art projects and is home to the smallest cinema in the city.
The Kulturaggregat is one of two new locations for this edition of the Biennale für Freiburg.

Kunstverein Freiburg
The Kunstverein Freiburg, founded in 1827, is one of the oldest art associations in Germany and has established itself as an important institution for contemporary art. Since 1997, the Kunstverein Freiburg has occupied the former Marienbad indoor swimming pool, and has remained dedicated to the critical examination of current social, political, and ecological issues.
As with past years, the Kunstverein Freiburg will be a central exhibition venue for the Biennale für Freiburg.

Museum für Neue Kunst
The Museum für Neue Kunst (MNK) in Freiburg is dedicated to current artistic and social themes throughout its changing exhibitions. As one of the most important museums for modern and contemporary art in the region, it offers new perspectives and approaches in the field of art to Freiburg and beyond. MNK’s collection illuminates works of the 20th and 21st centuries from ever new angles, bringing together established and emerging artists.
The Biennale für Freiburg 3 will take place in the MNK's Schau_Raum - a cinema space ideal for video art and cinematic works.
Marienstraße 10a

Pförtnerhaus
Since 2015, the Pförtnerhaus has provided space yearly for eight artistic proposals from all disciplines, as well as thematic group exhibitions. The unique Bauhaus-style architecture and location of the Pförtnerhaus make it an exceptional place for exploring art in an urban context.
This year, the Biennale für Freiburg will once again use the Pförtnerhaus as an exhibition venue for artistic works that deal with the central issues of the Biennale. Artworks are visible all night through the curved windows of the street-facing room behind the Gante brewery.

Schopf 2
Since 2022, SCHOPF2 has enriched Freiburg's cultural landscape with a diverse program of visual arts, music, dance, theatre, literature, and film. An initiative of the Kreativpioniere Freiburg/Schildacker e.V. association, SCHOPF2 offers young artists work and presentation opportunities and is actively committed to the sustainable development of culture in Freiburg.
SCHOPF2 is one of two new locations for this edition of the Biennale für Freiburg.

A special highlight this year is the integration of the Schauinsland cablecar — one of Freiburg's touristic landmarks — through artistic interventions on several of its gondolas.
