சிந்துஜன் வரதராஜா (Sinthujan Varatharajah) is a guest at the Biennale für Freiburg 3 and reads from her*his new book on tourism, which will be published next year by Hanser Verlag. The reading will be accompanied by a discussion with Lorena Juan, curator of the Biennale für Freiburg 3.
Sinthujan Varatharajah is a political geographer, researcher and essayist based in Berlin. Her*his work explores statelessness, mobility and displacement with a focus on infrastructure, logistics and architecture. In 2017 - 2018 Sinthujan Varatharajah was a board member of the Asylum Advisory Board of the European Commission. In 2020, she*he was part of the 11th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art with the research and art installation “how to move an ark”.
Varatharajah's first book, “to all the places behind us,” was published by Hanser Verlag in 2022. Together with Moshtaril Hilal, வரதராஜா published the discourse book “Hierarchies of Solidarity” with Wirklichkeit Books Verlag in 2024. Their joint spatial installation “Papierlast” is part of this year's 15th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art.
